We took over an old hardware shop on Beech Road in 2021 and kept most of it — the tiled floor, the back wall, and the light that comes through the front at about seven.
It's a small room and it gets loud in a good way. Come for two courses on a Wednesday or settle in properly on a Saturday. Both are entirely acceptable.
The hake was the best thing I've eaten in Manchester this year, and I say that having eaten a great deal in Manchester this year.
Went for a quick bite and stayed three hours. Nobody rushed us, nobody hovered. The staff clearly like working there, which you can always tell.
Small menu, which I always take as a good sign, and everything on it was properly considered. The chips alone are worth the walk.
